This College Coaches Showcase Camp women’s volleyball event will feature two sessions, Morning and Afternoon. This gives players the opportunity to pick the session that best fits their schedule. All college coaches will attend each session. The Morning Session will run from 8:00 AM to 11:15 PM. The Afternoon Session will run from 11:45 AM to 3:00 PM.
The Discussion on College Athletics will happen throughout the day. Players will attend this event as part of their experience. Parents and family members are encouraged to attend with them. Many parents and players consider this segment alone to be worth the price of admission. This discussion gives the college coaches an opportunity to talk with prospects and their families about college athletics. Topics like, NCAA rules, the NCAA Eligibility Center, the importance of grades and what coaches look for will be covered.
ALL PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE
Instruction from all coaches attending the event.
Opportunities to ask questions and get to know the college coaches.
Position specific training and small group instruction.
An open discussion about the NCAA rules, and regulations (parents are encouraged to either stay or come back for this segment. Questions are encouraged as to help answer questions and bust myths about college athletics).
All campers will be numbered so the coaches can identify each player.
EVENTS WILL NOT EXCEED AN 8:1 COACH-TO-PLAYER RATIO
Each segment of camp will consist of skill training and instruction. Players will have the opportunity to work with the college coaches in their specific position, as well as in a competitive environment. Players will be taken through a series of drills to work on various position specific skills, including serving, setting, hitting & blocking, passing & defending.
It is very important to know that each session has a limited enrollment. We aim for a player-to-coach ratio that will not exceed 8:1. This ensures that the coaches can spend quality time with all players attending and are not overwhelmed with large camp numbers. This also ensures that prospects will have time to interact with the coaches and learn from them in a small group setting.
THE COLLEGE COACHES AT THE EVENTS ARE ON THE COURT ALL DAY.
JUST LIKE THEY ARE FOR THEIR OWN PRACTICES AND GAMES.
Each player will receive verbal feedback from the different levels of college volleyball represented at the camp. Coaches will evaluate each player based on their experiences at their level of college volleyball and give feedback when appropriate. This will allow each participating volleyball player the opportunity to get a much clearer idea of where their skills may fit at the college level. Because we want full interaction between coaches and players, we do not provide written evaluations. We ask our staff to be fully engaged in the teaching process and not be lost in a form. For this reason, we highly encourage players to ask questions of the staff and obtain any and all information they would like to know.
WHY IS IT A CAMP AND A SHOWCASE?
Well, because it's the best of both worlds. Players want to showcase their skills to coaches, but they should also want to learn from the coaches. Coaches want to evaluate players and their skills so they can teach them appropriately, just like they do with their own players. Coaches also want to see how players react to new instruction, new techniques and how they socialize with peers and other coaches. Our goal is to have a player-to-coach ratio that will not exceed 8:1.
